Mario is an incredibly endearing little puppy who gets along with everyone, including children and other dogs. Mario is neutered, microchipped, and is current on shots. He weighs about 20 lbs and is approx 7 months old. He looks to have schipperke and a bit of small lab or shepherd in him. What he really resembles is a full-grown jet-black german shepherd, only miniaturized to 20 lbs. But whatever his breed is, it makes for one beautiful fellow. According to the vet, he should grow to be around 25 lbs, so he'll remain quite a small dog (think corgi or beagle size).
Mario is a well-behaved and well-adjusted young dog. He is curious and watchful and a bit timid with new people and animals in the beginning, but it doesn't take him long to warm up. He's very playful with other dogs, including those much bigger than him. He's not hyper, yappy, or stubborn, and does not suffer from separation anxiety. Mario is a calm, tolerant, and submissive boy and listens well. Knows "sit," rides well in the car, walks well on leash, and sticks close by off leash. He is crate-trained and we're still working on housetraining. He sleeps in his crate at night and is crated when nobody is home. Everything is still new to Mario, so sudden sounds and movements may startle him a bit, but he gets over it quickly. Mario has an independent streak so he's not constantly in your face for attention and can amuse himself, but he is a follower and is always mindful of where you are.
The one issue Mario does have is that he seems to be protective of his food from other dogs, so he should be fed separately from the other pets in the household. However, he has no such tendency towards people and allows me to mess with his food while he eats.
Mario is a shy, good-natured boy who, with continued socialization and a little training, will thrive in virtually any home. He's a little guy but he's sure to win your heart big time.
