DIXIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED

** Sweet, Calm Female Maltipoo Looking for Love (pics!!)**

Dixie is a 10-year Maltese/Poodle mix. Their normal life span is rated at 15-17 years, so she's still got some good years ahead of her. She's basically a middle-aged dog. She is quiet and calm, but does enjoy her exercise. She's frisky on her walks and in the car (loves to stick her head out the window--attached to a seatbelt of course) and can easily jump on the sofa.

She is approximately 7.5 lbs. She is housetrained and will stand by the door or whine in her crate to be taken outside. She probably prefers to sleep on the bed with you, but we are trying to crate train her. She whined for about 15 minutes when she was first put in her crate last night but then settled down.

She is NOT a yapper, thank goodness. She is fine with other dogs as we also have a shepherd mix and a pitbull, although she does not really interact with them (although our pittie puppy keeps trying to get her to play).

Dixie was rescued from the Ripon Animal Shelter where she was held since June, which is totally crazy. Had she been advertised on Petfinder, I'm sure she would have been snatched up much sooner. She was found as a stray. She was completely shaved because her hair was so matted and will have a new coat soon. She wears a hoodie to keep warm at night.

She is spayed, microchipped and current on her shots. She had 14 teeth extracted because they were rotting in her mouth (that leaves 25) and is currently on a diet of ground raw.

A kidney test was performed on her prior to having her teeth extracted and everything there was fine. The vet does think that she will have cataracts in the future, based on the quality of her eye lenses now. Surgery can remove the cataracts though is not necessary, although without it, her eyesight will diminish. She sees fine now though. Her eyes do water a bit, which is that brown stuff you see under her eyes in the pictures. Since she just got her teeth removed yesterday, I haven't wiped her face yet since I think her teeth still pains her.

Dixie is a very well-mannered dog. She doesn't have any behavioral issues as far as we can tell. She will definitely light up her new owner's life.
